Gotham font is a sans-serif typeface family designed by American type director Tobias Frere-Jones in 2000. The family includes fourteen fonts in seven weights and two widths, ranging from light to black with normal and narrow widths.
The designers were inspired by architectural lettering of the mid-twentieth century, particularly that seen in the work of Edward Johnston, who designed the Johnston typeface for the London Underground.
Gotham has an eye towards functionality as well as form, with OpenType features including fractions, ordinals, superscript/subscript, ligatures, small caps, multiple language support.
The Gotham typeface family is available for licensing through several different companies, including Font Bureau, Fontspring, and Typekit.
